Good Read--'Alice: Alice Roosevelt Longworth: From White House Princess to Washington Power Broker'
Stacy A. Cordery has written a wonderful new biography of Theodore Roosevelt's legendary daughter, Alice Roosevelt Longworth.
Alice spanned American history from the 1890s through the 1970s. Cordery does a fine job of tracing the arc of Alice's life, which touched history makers from TR, to Senator William E. Borah, to House Speaker Nicholas Longworth, United Mine Workers' chieftain John L. Lewis, Senators Robert Taft and Robert Kennedy, Presidents Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson and Nixon, to name a few.
Cordery's Alice is meticulously researched for experts, yet readily accessible to general readers. I recommend it highly.
